I have loved art my entire life. My parents joke that I was born with a pencil in my hand because I have never stopped drawing. Growing up, I would tag along on my mother’s Interior Design jobs and quietly scribble in her old day timers while she filled the air with conversation about color, pattern, and finishes. In school, I would frequently get in trouble for drawing all over my assignments. What can I say, my brain is constantly processing shapes and lines and my hands ache to translate them. They don’t seem to care if the time is right. I was finally able to turn that itch into a goal and received my degree in Drawing and Painting from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2014. I went on to study Art History at the University of Memphis and Art Education at Christian Brothers University. All the while, I have explored what it means to be an artist on my own terms and how that passion fits into my life. My career has bounced from art museums, architecture firms, and art classrooms but today I am proud to say I am finally a full time working artist. And momma. My son Simon will always be the greatest thing I have ever made.

I guess you could say that my artist’s statement is the following:

I create paintings, drawings, and prints in order to ease the ache of living. I create to satisfy the shake in my hands that insists I make marks and to quiet the voice that says I shouldn’t. I want to put beauty, kindness, and love into the world not only with the things that I make but also with my relationships. My hope is that I can make art for you that will make you smile and provide a little more color and beauty to your life.

So here you are. I am so glad we have crossed paths. Let’s connect.
